Biography

Takumi Motokawa is a Berlin-based musician who was born in Japan and
grew up in New Zealand. His musical style encompasses diverse
spectrum of musical genres, traditions and innovation from classical
music to electronic music genres.
Starting to play the piano since the early age, he also started playing the
mallet percussion from the age of 15. Based on the strong instrumental
and compositional background, his music carries diverse styles and
influences from contemporary classical to many different electronic
genres, which resulted in the organic sound made up of electronic and acoustic elements.
Since moving to Berlin in 2015, he has been working with Shackleton and performed
together with him in Atonal festival and many other music festivals around Europe. In 2019
he released the EP “Hope” with Jepe, and they perform live on stage as a duo.
